The Los Angeles Breakfast Club is an association started in the 1920s as a men's riding group and expanded to offer memberships to prominent men in the community. After several years at the Ambassador Hotel on Wilshire Boulevard, the club obtained a headquarters on Los Feliz Boulevard in Griffith Park in 1937 and built a permanent headquarters on park property in 1965, located at 3201 Riverside Drive in Los Angeles. Photograph caption dated December 19, 1953 reads "Often as flat as the face of their gavels were judges Philip H. Richards, Clement D. Nye, Benjamin J. Scheinman and Frank G. Swain; 'angel' is Judge Allen Ashburn (arrow)." The first four men are standing on a stage singing, wearing knit caps. Ashburn is shown walking offstage, a halo over his head. The men were at the annual Christmas Hijinks of the Los Angeles Bar Association at the Los Angeles Breakfast Club.
