Landscape view of land and mountains in Pasadena, California. In the foreground, a young vineyard, and a line of trees, followed by a young orchard, empty fields, scattered buildings (including a two-story house at right and a schoolhouse next to a large tree at left, with children playing nearby), another line of orchards, and the San Gabriel Mountains in the far distance.
Title derived from Watkins New Series stereograph #4388. Date devised by cataloger; Watkins made two trips to Southern California, in 1877 and 1880. Forms panorama with photCL 74 (558)/New Series stereo #4385. Transcribed from back of photo: "Pasadena / school house under oak tree / school was built at a cost of 300 dollars in 1875, located west side of Orange Grove Ave., 1 block south of intersection at Calif. St."
