Description
Image of an electric tram and people walking on a boardwalk south of the Santa Monica Pier and Looff Pleasure Pier with the Hippodrome and Blue Streak Racer roller coaster in the distance in Santa Monica, California.
This is a copy negative (a photograph of another photograph). Title based on note from donor Ernest Marquez. Date devised by cataloger based on the history of the Looff Pleasure Pier, which was completed in 1917, and the Blue Streak roller coaster, which was replaced in 1924. Same image reproduced in Ernest Marquez publication: Santa Monica Beach: A Collector's Pictorial History (Angel City Press, 2004), page 183. The Venice Electric Tram operated approximately 1910-1929, along the concrete walkway between Venice and Santa Monica (erha.org).
