Description
Photograph of a worker laying down the first plies of a passenger car tire at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company's plant, ca.1930. Wearing a light-colored sleeveless shirt and belted pants, the man bends to put a sheet of rubber on the metal tire center, which is held in place by a stand. The tire is built on a drum and later assumes its shape which is familiar to car users. In the background, one can see several rolls of a gauze-like material stacked on shelves.
