Description
Composite of three photographs, reproduced. Typed caption attached to photograph: DeForest Wireless Telegraph Station, set up by J. Alex Wallace on the top floor of the tall "North American" building in Philadelphia, Pa., in February 1905. The project was sponsored by the "North-American", one of Philadelphia's leading daily newspapers, for the purpose of receiving by Wireless Telegraphy, the inauguration address of President Theodore Roosevelt, on March 4, 1905. A corresponding station was set up in Washington, on Capitol Hill, for transmitting the inaugural address. The address was transmitted from Washington by J. Alex Wallace, and received in Philadelphia by .... .... ...., and was immediately printed by the "North American" in a Special Edition. The whole operation was a complete success and afforded much publicity both to the Philadelphia "North-American" and the DeForest Wireless Telegraph Company.
