Description: Four women are posing on Venice Beach. Two of them are beating drums, and the other two, are standing in between the drummers holding a banner that reads "Proclamation under exclusive franchise, the finals to select Miss California 1936 for national competition in Atlantic City will be held during the Venice Mardi Gras August 9th." The ocean is visilbe in the background, including two bathers at extreme right. The 1936 Miss California contest was held in conjunction with the 1936 Venice Mardi Gras.
