Original print has visible crease down middle. Photograph article dated April 16, 1957 partially reads, "Mrs. Nelson was born in Downey. She served as teacher and later vice principal of San Fernando Elementary School from the early 1920’s until 1951… Mrs. Nelson helped organize the Afternoon Club, a social and religious group for the elderly. She was a member of the Sylmar Civic Association and the Sylmar Garden Club. Surviving are her husband, Marshall O. Nelson; a son, John Wesley Fick of Sepulveda; a brother, Vernon Walk of Newhall; a stepson, Marion Nelson of San Fernando; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Harriett Carnes of San Fernando and Mrs. Alva Scott of Homer, Alaska, and 11 grandchildren.”
