Engraved map, 36.5 x 29, issued by Robert de Vaugondy to illustrate the current views of the geography of the northwest in the supplement to Diderot's Encyclopedie. The set was also issued in a smaller form. The map compares three interpretations and representations of the Northwest Passage, the northeast coasts of Asia, and the American northwest. The three representations originated from various German and Russian explorers.
