Bust-length portrait.
1990-1721.
Born in Springfield, Ill. in 1822. Arrived in California via overland Southern route. Spent time in the mines. Afterwards settled in various cities - Stockton, San Juan, Visalia, Gilroy, Los Angeles. Spent time stock raising, mining, farming. Was veteran of the Mexican War, serving under Winfield Scott. Died in 1904.
