Description
Photograph caption dated October 5, 1942 reads, "Suspects booked for suspicion of murder after fight. Left to right: Leo Aranda, Richard Gonzalez, Carlos Martinez, Trinidad Torres and Jacinto Ariballo." Ariballo was also known as Jose G. Arballo and Joseph G. Arballo. Accompanying newspaper article reads, "Two men were viciously assaulted and robbed early today by so-called 'Panchecos' - Mexican youths wearing flashy 'zoot suits' - in a bloody climax to a week-end of renewed youthful gang violence that left one youth dead -- killed with a 2 by 4 club during a flight that involved members of the Channing Street and Mateo street gangs."
