Description
Waist-length portrait. 2014-2114. John Miller Estes was born in Missouri in 1832. Arrived in California in 1850's (?) living in various places Douglas City, Weaverville, before settling in Redding. Served as County Clerk Weaverville, Deputy Sheriff; moved to Redding in 1882 where served as County Clerk, City clerk. Owned hardware store on south east corner of California and Butte. He died in 1891. Accompanied by: handwritten genealogy for John Miller and Liza (Elizabeth Tourot) Estes (moved to Biographical Information File B40 F-Size flat file Filed under Estes, John Miller); and, certificate for the Weaver Lodge No. 161 (moved to Textual File: Certificates: Lodges and societies: Grand Lodge of California)
