Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated August 31, 1950 partially reads, "The horse is here to stay in the Mahler family. Cowgirl Alice Mahler of Pacoima is the latest limb of an English family tree that dates back 400 years in the breeding, raising and riding of horses. Alice certainly goes all out for her equestrian hobby. She not only is an expert rider, including stunt riding and trip roping, but paints horse and cowboy scenes in oils and designs and embroiders horses on her more than two dozen parade costumes and shirts. Her golden palomino horse, Little Giant, is the model for many of her paintings and designs." Photograph caption reads, "Fancy duds - Western regalia is embroidered by Alice Maher [sic]. Horse care and training has been family avocation of her family for past 400 years, dating back to England."; See image #00136643 for additional photo in this series.
