Photograph of a view of Highland Avenue looking north from a point 150 feet south of Sunset Boulevard, after widening and paving, February 7, 1938. Automobiles can be seen driving on and parked on the side of a wide road that runs from the foreground into the center background. Street car tracks and lines can be seen, as well as several cars traveling on a road at center that runs perpendicular to Highland Avenue. Utility poles and buildings line the road, including a gas station at right. A tower with a conical top can be seen in the background, while hills are visible in the distance. Compares to USC-0-1-1-3432, which shows the street before widening and paving. Legible signs include, "Ice Crea[m]", "[S]tandard Stations, Inc.", and "Chesbr[...] Motor Servic[e]".
