Description
Image of anthropomorphized horses in a military battle reminiscent of the American Civil War, firing canons, lining up in a row, and lying as casualties on the battlefield, with an American flag flying in the background; with a head-and-shoulders portrait of show creator and horse trainer Professor George Bartholomew at center.
Probable date approximated by cataloger based on printer history; Henry A. Thomas was listed in New York City directories at the East 12th St. address from approximately 1883 until around 1885. "H. A. Thomas, Lith. Studio, 47 East 12th St. N.Y."--text, bottom right margin.
