Photograph caption dated March 29, 1958 reads "Army's highest peacetime honor, Soldier's Medal, is presented to Pfc. Donald Galbreath, 23, of Sunland, by Brig. Gen. Willis A. Perry, commanding general of 47th Antiaircraft Artillery Brigade, Fort MacArthur. Galbreath received honor for saving fellow soldier from drowning in raging surf."
