When polls are closed, officials go back of the voting machine, lower a slide, and find the votes for each candidate registered and totaled automatically under his name. They transfer the count to a checking sheet, shown on August 21, 1930, by Mrs. Olive Williams, left, and Mrs. Adelaide Mullin, and the report of the result is completed in half an hour.
