V1p431c -- v2p210e In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 431 bottom, Vol II, page 210 bottom. These photographs are contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." "Text written to right of photo in Volume I: "St. Francis Moving Picture Theatre located south side Geary Street west of Powell Street 1917." Text written underneath photo in Volume II: "[G]eary Street west of Powell St. [extreme left of caption missing]" Photos show a crowd gathered under the marquee of the Theatre St. Francis, where Pauline Frederick in "Ashes of Embers" is playing. Bouquets of flowers are evident, indicating that this may be a premiere of some sort. The two photos view the scene from two different angles.
