These photographs are contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
"Text written to right of photo in Volume I: "St. Francis Moving Picture Theatre located south side Geary Street west of Powell Street 1917." Text written underneath photo in Volume II: "[G]eary Street west of Powell St. [extreme left of caption missing]"
Photos show a crowd gathered under the marquee of the Theatre St. Francis, where Pauline Frederick in "Ashes of Embers" is playing. Bouquets of flowers are evident, indicating that this may be a premiere of some sort. The two photos view the scene from two different angles.
