Description
Photograph of a "close-up" of the central region of the spiral galaxy Messier 33. "Mount Wilson and Palomar Observatories. 3 NGC 598 Spiral nebula in Triangulum (central region). Messier 33. 200-inch photograph" -- printed note attached to verso. "Please credit: Mount Wilson and Palomar Observatories Photo | A "close-up" of the central region of the spiral galaxy Messier 33, as photographed with the 200-inch Hale Telescope of the Palomar Observatory. The Observatory is jointly operated with the Mount Wilson Observatory by the Carnegie Institution of Washington and the California Institute of Technology. The view shows the central region in greater detail than does the over-all view of Messier 33 (Photo # 158) taken with the 48-inch Schmidt telescope at Palomar. Resolution of the nuclear region and spiral arms into their components stars is clearly evident" -- typed note attached to verso. Verso dated, "April 26, 1954".
