This is a photograph of Fr. John Mihelko of Cleveland, Ohio caring for a boy at the dispensary at Wuzhou. The boys mother is holding his hand and he looks quite apprehensive. Rev. Mihelko was born in Cleveland, OH. He entered Maryknoll in 1935 and was ordained in 1938. He was assigned to Wuchow, where he remained throughout the war years. After furlough in 1947 he returned to Wuchow where he served until the arrival of the communists. Placed under house arrest in 1951, he was expelled in 1952. In 1956 he was assigned to Transfiguration Parish in Chinatown, NYC, where he served for 23 years.
