Description
Photograph at Daibutsu at Kamakura, Japan, [s.d.]. At center, a large statue of Daibutsu, or the Buddha, can be seen on a slightly raised platform. The statue is massive in size as can be compared to the people standing near its base. The statue can be seen wearing a large robe, sitting cross-legged. The earlobes have been extended a great deal and a round dot has been placed between the statue's eyebrows. A decorative cap can be seen adorning the statue's head. Along the base, a man wearing traditional Japanese clothing can be seen. To the far left, another man is visible near a small building. Further in the foreground, a woman and a child can be seen both wearing traditional attire. Another woman is seen at right. A small stairway is visible in the foreground leading to the statue, and decorative lamps sit on either side of the base. Trees are visible in the extreme background.
