Description
Photograph of the Ireito at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Santa Monica. A man and a woman are pictured taking their seats most likely for the Memorial Day service. The Santa Monica Nikkei Hall Records includes photo albums and photographs from the Santa Monica Nikkei Hall. The hall was constructed in 1957 and served the local Japanese American (Nikkei) community for over 60 years. The photo albums in the collection include images of annual picnics, performances, and events at the hall. There is also a photograph album from the Samo Dance Club with images of birthday events, and holiday and themed dances. The individual images in the collection include group photographs outside the hall and photographs taken in the 2000s around the building. Also included are photographs from the Memorial Day service at the Ireito in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Santa Monica. The service was hosted yearly by different local organizations and churches.
