Description
Photograph of the exterior of the dilapidated ruins of the Butterfield Stage Station and Hotel on the "Smoke Tree Ranch", ca.1915. There are three sections of brick wall standing, as well as a stone foundation, and these together form the only visible part of the ruins, which are part of an early colony. The wall on the right extends around a corner and has a large chunk of bricks missing from what was the back wall. The middle section of wall is generally rectangular in shape, and so is the small section of wall at the left of the picture. In the foreground there are several tumbleweeds, while a mountain range is visible in the background.
