Photograph article dated September 23, 1960 reads, "A former enlisted dental technician has parlayed his experience with the 146th Tactical Hospital three years ago into a career as a dentist and a commission with the National Air Guard. Returning to duty at the Van Nuys base recently was 1st Lt. Bob Carter, who graduated from the University of Southern California Dental School in June. It was his duty with the Air National Guard during his high school days, and the encouragement of Chief dental Officer Maj. Richard Nahhas, which prompted Carter to become a dentist. Appropriately enough, the one who pinned the silver bars on Lieutenant Carter's shirt was the man who started it all, Major Nahhas. In civilian life the new lieutenant is Dr. Robert Carter, D.D.S., with offices at 8745 Parthenia Pl., Sepulveda."
