Description
Photograph of Suenari Koyasako smoking a cigarette and leaning against the Post Office entrance at Tule Lake. Suenari worked at the post office while incarcerated at Tule Lake.
Naoki ("Jack") and Tsuyoko (nee Tanoue) Koyasako were farmers who grew asparagus and onions in Clarksburg, California. They had eight children: Suenari ("Sue"), Kazuo ("Jackson), Kiyoko ("Kik"), Yoshio ("Yank"), Sueo ("Goi"), Jimmy, Tsuyako ("Chuck"), and Mitsuo ("Mits). Suenari married Alma Makashima. The Koyasako family was incarcerated at Tule Lake and took photographs with a contraband camera. Suenari was a musician in the "Paradise Melodiers" band that played in the Tule Lake administration building.
