Description
Photograph shows a number of large tents in the background. In the foreground, two horse-drawn vehicles stand side by side. The smaller wagon is harnessed to four pairs of small, plumed horses. The writing on the wagon reads "Fo[ley & Burk] Combined shows." The other vehicle is a railway car atop a wagon; it is harnessed to two pairs of larger horses. The writing on the railway car reads "Foley & Burk [Sho]ws." Each vehicle has a driver perched atop it, holding the reins of his team of horses. Foley & Burk Combined Shows was a Santa Rosa based railroad carnival that toured throughout California at cities on the railway line. San Jose was an annual stop for the company. Scanned with Microtek Scanmaker 1000XL Pro; as a 600 dpi TIFF image in 8-bit Grayscale. Auto Level image processing applied and compressed into JPEG format using Photoshop CS3.
