Description
Los Angeles Swimming Stadium at Exposition Park. Photo was taken from the top of the Coliseum showing the new $200,000 Olympic swimming pool filled with water for the first time. Nine young champions tried out the pool at a "baptismal" ceremony late yesterday, and plans are being made for the first meet. The pool, where the swimming, diving and water polo events of the Olympiad will be staged this summer, is built to Olympic requirements, being 164 feet long and 65 feet high. In foreground is the diving tower, 39 feet high, with platforms at various elevations. The two grandstands seat 10,000 persons. Photograph dated April 8, 1932.
