Letter from Harrop A. Freeman to Ernest Besig. Freeman writes: "Mr. Baldwin of ACLU has furnished me your name as one who might send me some material on the Japanese evacuation cases. I am presently serving as Professor of Constitutional Law here at the college and am preparing a law review article on the constitutionality of the evacuation. If you could furnish me your brief and that of the government in the case you handled, or any other pertinent material, I should be greatly indebted to you." The ACLU-Northern California case file records contain legal documents and correspondence pertaining to the case argued before the Supreme Court in Korematsu v. United States (1944), challenging the constitutionality of Executive Order 9066.
