Description
This 1950 photograph shows the eighth store in the Stop-N-Shop supermarket chain. Located at 2851 Fulton Avenue, the 150,000 dollar store opened on November 16, 1950. Its three grand opening days included free bags of groceries, refreshments, and 2,000 gardenias for women visiting the store. The Fulton location represented part of one million dollar expansion plan by the owning Kassis family. In the same building were College Cleaners, Take-E-Home Chinese Food, Capco Colors Unlimited, Brownies Shop and Hart's Pastry.
