Description
"Ruben Gambi mit Frau und Kindern." ("Ruben Gambi and his wife and children."). On the left: Ruben Gambi wearing a white suit. Next to him: his wife holding a baby. To the left and right of him: a girl and another baby. In front and next to the couple: an African woman and an African man.
Ruben Gambi was an assistant to the missionaries. He died in 1938. -- Elise Schärf (1892-?) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. She was a deaconess and received training not only as a nurse but also in the care of mothers and lepers. She served from 1928 for many years at the leprosy hospital in Isoko.
