Title supplied by cataloger. Dodger Stadium, built in the Los Angeles community of Chávez Ravine and overlooking downtown Los Angeles, is currently the third oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball. The stadium broke ground on September 17, 1959, was built between 1959-1962, opened on April 10, 1962, and has been home to the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team ever since. It was designed by architect Emil Praeger and was built by the Vinell Construction Company. The stadium sits on 300 acres, and has a fan capacity of 56,000, and parking capacity of 16,000. Dodger Stadium was privately financed by Walter O'Malley with an original proposed cost of $12 million, which balloooned to $16 million during construction, and was finally completed at a cost of $23 million. Dodger Stadium's official address is 1000 Elysian Park Avenue.
