Photograph caption dated December 20, 1955 reads, "A modern new method of handling checking account deposits went into effect this week at California Bank's North Hollywood Office with the installation of automatic tellers' machines. Vic Holtby, assistant vice president in charge of the office, is shown discussing the operation of one of the machines with tellers Colleen Langford and Gladys Luxford (left-right). The new system provides customers with faster service in making deposits. The use of passbooks is eliminated as the machine prints a registered receipt in duplicate for each deposit made, Holtby said. "We will be happy to demonstrate our new teller machines to our customers at any time," he added."
