Description: With all their movable belongings piled in the back of an old automobile, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Compton are shown on November 25, 1938, when they left their Topanga Canyon home, fleeing the flames. For hours they watched the fire creep nearer and nearer to their home, until at last they gave up hope of saving it.
