Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the south front of Mission San Luis Rey de Francia, taken by photographer Edward Vischer, San Diego, before 1875. The main adobe building of the mission stands high at center, with a connecting bell tower at right and an arched doorway topped by a rosetta window. What appears to be a second bell tower is visible on the back of the terracotta-tiled roof. A portico walkway extends from the building to the left. A handmade trellis is visible in front of the complex growing vegetation on its roof. The ground in front appears to be dry and grassless.
