This parkland, located along Ventura Boulevard just west of Balboa, remains virtually unchanged since the 1920s. Encino's first fire station can be seen in the background. The Encino Chamber of Commerce began in 1927, but was temporarily disbanded during the great depression. The Chamber was revived in 1936 and worked closely with the community to assist in the development of Encino. The Encino Community Center is a Los Angeles City Department of Recreation & Parks facility; it offers a wide variety of youth and adult recreational programs, workshops, specialty classes and Senior clubs. The auditorium acts as a community room and has a seating capacity of 250. Encino Park is part of Encino Community Center and includes a basketball court, two tennis courts, a modern children's play area, picnic tables, barbeques, and a Tricycle and Wheelchair Track. Photograph dated March 11, 2002.
