Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated April 13, 1957 reads, "Ernest D. Gibson, 61, has been nominated by President Eisenhower to be postmaster of Van Nuys. Gibson, of 6501 Orion St., is a career post office employe [sic], having joined the department 38 years ago. If confirmed by the Senate, he will be serving his second term as postmaster, a position he held from 1923 to 1936. He has been acting postmaster the past two years. Gibson comes from a family devoted to the mails. His father was one of the earliest postmasters in Van Nuys and a son, Robert E. Gibson, is superintendent of the Panorama Station post office."
