Photograph article dated April 13, 1957 reads, "Ernest D. Gibson, 61, has been nominated by President Eisenhower to be postmaster of Van Nuys. Gibson, of 6501 Orion St., is a career post office employe [sic], having joined the department 38 years ago. If confirmed by the Senate, he will be serving his second term as postmaster, a position he held from 1923 to 1936. He has been acting postmaster the past two years. Gibson comes from a family devoted to the mails. His father was one of the earliest postmasters in Van Nuys and a son, Robert E. Gibson, is superintendent of the Panorama Station post office."
