Description
"B 2756 Los Angeles, looking N.E. from Prospect Hill," published by Isaiah W. Taber, circa 1882. The image, from what is generally known as Fort Moore Hill, looks over Sonoratown, north of the Plaza, and toward today's Elysian Park on the bare hills in the background. Residences mainly comprise the structures in view, while in the distance are two cemeteries. At left is the Home of Peace Jewish burying ground and at right is the Calvary Catholic cemetery. The image may have been taken by Carleton Watkins, whose inventory was obtained later by Taber. Item 2 of this accession is on the reverse and the condition is good.
