Photograph was edited for publication purposes Originally known as the Hebrew Sheltering Home for the Aged, the Jewish Home for the Aging was founded in Boyle Heights in 1912. About four years later, the Home's first permanent facility was built on Boyle Avenue, where it existed for decades. In 1967, acreage in Reseda was purchased and a facility was built on Victory Boulevard. A merger in 1979 with the Menorah Village created a second campus on Tampa Avenue in Reseda. Photograph caption dated March 20, 1957 reads, "Members of new supporting group for California Home for the Aged in Reseda will sponsor first event tomorrow at the home, 19260 Sherman Way. Women interested in helping the home are invited to attend."
