James Francis Cardinal McIntyre, Archbishop of Los Angeles, is seen at prayer in the chapel of his Los Angeles home. His prayers were for the health and recovery of Pope John XXIII who was suffering from hemorrhages caused by stomach cancer. Pope John XXIII passed away a few days later on June 3, 1963. Photograph dated May 30, 1963.
