The information accompanying Mr. Inoue's letter of 1980 November 7. Written in third person, Inoue addresses questions from Kenneth Hopper. He explains that during the CCS (Civil Communications Section) seminars, SCAP gave strict orders asking that just one executive from each company attend. He comments on Mr. Sarasohn's lectures, and says that Dr. Deming and Dr. Juran lectured on quality control. He contrasts the "top-down" management of the United States to the "bottom-up" management of Japan. Inoue shares that the motive power that caused Matsushita to change and become a major world enterprise was the "art of management" as created by Mr. Konosuke Matsushita. He compares this to the "science of management" taught in the CCS seminars that was only a subsidiary contributor to Matsushita's subsequent success. He comments on Dr. Nakane's meetings with business group leaders and lists qualities of a great leader from an article by Charles Protzman. Inoue goes on to discuss Mr. Kobayashi, then a plant manager with Nippon Electric Company (NEC), and quality control methods. The information contains markings and handwritten edits.
