Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Canet adobe in Morro Bay, ca.1900. At center, a large, one-story building with clapboard siding can be seen at the end of a dirt driveway. Trees line the driveway to either side, while at right a metal contraption of some sort stands in the yard. Notes from an earlier version of the record read: "On Rancho San Bernardo, granted in 1840 to Don Vicente Canet a Spanish sailor who came to California before 1829. A grant of one square league. Was local of a romance. Known as 'Carnet castle' and also 'Morro Castle' . Located on knoll 200 yards north of San Luis Obispo, Morro Highway, two miles east of Morro".
