The California Utah Women, originally named the Utah Women's Club, was founded in 1939 by a small group of California women who united to share their Utah heritage and experiences. They were very active in the 1940's giving aid to European countries, even forming their own Red Cross Chapter. They became a philanthropic organization with the introduction of the Heritage and sholarship awards presented at their annual luncheons. The group continues to be active philanthropically, and their mission has grown from sharing a common heritage to giving their time to their communities and those in need throughout the nation and worldwide. Photograph caption dated October 13, 1964 reads, "The California - Utah Women will hold their seventh annual Heritage Awards Luncheon Oct. 24 in the Embassy Room of the Ambassador Hotel.
