A program for the 41st annual Nisei Week Japanese festival. Includes articles: A little history of big event: Nisei Week started in 1934, the annual by Kango Kunitsugu; Little Tokyo by Kango Kunitsugu; Gardena-its history: the Japanese community represents 21 percent of the city's population, the highest in the country by Wimp Hiroto; Gardena-its politics: it claims first Nisei elected to public office and first Nisei mayor on mainland by Wimp Hiroto; Gardena-its institute: the Moneta Gakuen, organized in 1911, was a hostel for returning evacuees in 1945-46 by Wimp Hiroto; Shinkichi Tajiri: self-imposed exile in Europe since 1948, renowned sculptor "returns" home for dedication of his sculpture in Little Tokyo by Kango Kunitsugu; Mike Kanemitsu by Kats Kunitsugu. This collections includes programs from the Nisei Week Japanese Festival in Little Tokyo, California. The programs are dated from August 1949 - August 2002 and include images from events at the festival, such as the Coronation ball, tea ceremony, fashion show, talent show, and the Nisei Week Queens. Also included are letters, greetings, and introductions from Nisei Week Queens, mayors, volunteers, and others.
