Photograph caption dated August 15, 1957 reads, "Dog trainer Ben Kuper of Sun Valley shakes Mercury's paw after he and other German Shepherd Pharo held burglary suspect at bay until police arrived to make arrest. Incident took place in Sherman Oaks where vacant houses are to be moved out of path of new freeway."
