Description
The Claremont real estate office on College Avenue. On the roof is a sign [illegible] and two people sit on the front porch. At the top is printed " May 1962," the date when this print was made from the original. Attached to the photograph is a caption, which has been cropped out. "Looking up College Ave from first street. The dark oak tree stands in front of Mable Bridges Hall of music today. In 1887 the Real Estate office was the center of all sales in Claremont. In 1895 the office was turned to face south & was the city's first kindergarten & later it was sold to Dean Norton who moved it to the east side of his home on 7th st & rented it to students. It still stands there today."
