2008-1665 PHOTO: ADVERTISMENTS: BILLBOARDS Shows brick-paved Sutter Street. Railroad tracks in street, buildings on far side, series of billboards line the corner. Buildings include - Pelicano, Rossi & Co., floral artists; Angelus Bar; Ruhstallers. Billboards include - Sparkling king of table waters, Clysmic, Johson Locke Mercantile Co.; Good news, S.F. Chronicle; Sunset Photo Supply Co.; Motors, Weidenthal-Gosliner Electric Works. "H.S. Hoyt" - stamped on back. Possibly commissioned by the J. Chas Green Co. or Varney & Green to document their signs. Companies were owned by Jacob Charles Green and Thomas H.B. Varney. Firms did outdoor advertising, bill posting, painted signs, street cars, railroad bulletins.
