Description
Photograph shows group portrait (left to right): Nancy Fallows, Jackye McClure and Sandy Davis possibly at a Rape Crisis Center event. The sign on the podium behind the women reads: "Hya[tt] Regen[cy] in Burlinga[me]." The plaque held by Jackye probably honors her work on behalf of rape victims. On verso: "Nancy Fallows, Jackye McClure, Sandy Davis YWCA RCC." Jackye McClure had been raped and called the YWCA's 24 hour rape crisis hotline with questions that the volunteers were unable to answer. She went on to volunteer for the crisis line, organized a speaker's bureau, and in 1979 became the director of the Rape Crisis, presiding over a tremendous expansion of services. From Fran Smith, "Breaking Ground: The Daring Women of the YWCA in the Santa Clara Valley, 1905-2005, " (2005), p.82-83. 1980-04-03 Scanned with Epson Perfection V700 photo; as a 600 dpi TIFF image in 24-bit RGB color. Auto Level image processing applied and compressed into JPEG format using Photoshop CS3
