Description
Photograph of a view of the intersection of Whittier Boulevard and Ocean View Avenue, ca.1924. A car can be seen parked along the curb in the extreme left foreground, while other automobiles make their way down Whittier in the left side of the image. To the right, traffic appears to be much lighter. One-story commercial buildings line the streets to either side along with utility poles and pedestrians traversing the sidewalks. On the corner to the right, an empty lot can be partially seen, filled with rubble. Legible signs from left to right include: "Rexall Drugs. Soda", "Gardens Hotel", "The Gardens Cafe", "J.A. Brown Real Estate", "J.L.K Shake Co.", "Comedy", "Bakery", "Lowrie Real Estate", "Signs", "J.A. Schatz Market", "Suits Cleaned & Pressed 75 cents", and "Cleaning & Dyeing".
