Photograph caption dated May 24, 1956 reads, "Tony Sloss, Burbank Disabled American Veterans Service Officer, presents membership card to Melvin Swartz, polio victim. Swartz was stricken with disease while in Air Force in 1952 and was recently released from Sawtelle Veterans Hospital."
