Description
Aerial view of Downtown Los Angeles looking north on a clear day. Pershing Square is in the center of the photograph, the Los Angeles Public Library tower is visible two blocks to the left, and City Hall is visible on the upper right. Although there are dozens upon dozens of buildings, for decades no building in Los Angeles was allowed to exceed the height of City Hall, until 1957. It remained the tallest building in California from 1928-1964, at 28 stories tall (450 feet). This photo was taken from 10th Street between Hope and Main. Photo dated: February 24, 1930.
