Photograph taken on November 6, 1936 before leaving Sutter's Fort for Oakland in celebration of the opening of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, November 12, 1936. Also have negatives: 2009-1057, no. 3491a (4 x 5 in.); 2009-1058, no. 3491b (4 x 5 in.) Sacramento's contribution to the celebration of the opening of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge was the Progress of Transportation Pageant. The Pageant consisted of a different form of transportation leaving Sutter's Fort each day, traveling to San Francisco for the opening. Pageant was sponsored by the Sacramento Chamber of Commerce.
